There are a few problems with this assignment, however. It reads very smoothly, and there are some very nice descriptive passages. Parker is just that type of character. That’s sort of illegal and against all department policies.

KC Burn Week Review: Cover Up

December 14, Available at: Oh – and just a little anecdote on the side: Nov 18, Susan65 rated it liked it. He was adorable and exactly the kind of person I’m drawn to. This was not a book I regret reading, as it was a pleasant way to fill up an afternoon, but it wont be going on my favourites shelf. Found at the Bookstore.

An alleged young up-and-comer in the Russian organization has advertised for a room mate, and Bekker is to take advantage of it to find out what he can about the kid and his involvement with the mob. There is also Ivan’s PTSD from the shooting, that allowed me to somewhat forgive the crappy police work and complete failure to see what was right in front of him.

It was so frustrating seeing if they would finally get together.

At first Ivan thinks his Captain chose him for this particular assignment because the suspect is go, as is Ivan, but that is not the case. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in: Cop Out was a much better book, while Cover Up is barely held together with a paper-thin, highly improbable plot.

He finds it hard to believe that sweet Parker could possibly be a criminal, much less have ties to a Russian mafia drug-trafficking operation, and Ivan lets down his guard. It’s just that not everyone’s secrets can get them killed. Hi Rock Thanks for the feedback, and the kind words. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. I was ready to pull my hair out.

I enjoyed it and really got into the story. I wanted to give this book more stars because I loved Parker so very much, but I could not. I liked that this second installment in the ‘Toronto Tales’ series picked up basically where the first book ended. Ivan has been shoved undercover after an extremely intense and disturbing drug bust.

A cop-goes-undercover crime story that gets beaten to death by endlessly mulled over mutual sexual attraction – without any tangible sparks. Give as a gift. Their reconciliation at the end was way too rushed for me to feel satisfied.

I totally fell in love with Parker. So when Ivan is put on paid suspension while Internal Affairs reviews the shootings, Ivan’s boss sends him into a completely unsanctioned undercover operation.

I really liked it! We’ll publish them on our site once we’ve reviewed them. Again, Tristan James did an excellent job with telling this story. Again dropped a star because I felt there were a few too many coincidences throughout the story that seemed a little bit contrived and a wee bit far fetched, especially at the end.

Parker, who I actually really liked as a character chooses to bury his head in the sand and his insecurities became annoying after a while. Though Ivan is under investigation for his part in the shooting, his boss sends him on an off-the-books undercover operation to close the case. The investigation plot is a bit outlandish, but serves to connect the characters from Cop Out with Ivan and Parker, and to reaffirm relationships for the next book in the series.

The timing is critical – this could be their chance to plug a leak in the department. Still, if you are a fan of romantic mysteries, there is much in this novel to like. The biggest problem with this book is that the concept is so far removed from reality that it was almost painful to read.
