He seems to hold nothing back as he brings the reader through his journey from a challenging childhood, battles with addiction, and emerging to the other side. By the age of 16 he became a regular drug user, and not long afterwards an alcoholic and heroin addict.
And as someone who can relate to his story, I found his honesty both inspirational and comforting. I believe in the power of weirdos everywhere.
One moment he can be writing in cockney slang, the next he’ll pull out a vernacular that’s probably more common in the stuffy halls of Oxford. Nobody is capable of parodying Russell better than Russell himself, of course.

It is beneficial in providing a decent night’s sleep and is out of your body in hours so you aren’t affected the next day. I was somehow bored to tears by the second chapter, despite the fact that he was talking about sex addiction and rehab and other staples of trashy-but-fascinating celebrity memoirs.
From great gigs to film reviews and listings, entertainment has you covered. The casual way in which he describes physical, sexual and mental abuse is often hard to stomach and he does not make it easier for the reader to appreciate the severity; but this is almost certainly deliberate.

How would that make us both feel? As an addict, Brand is now a steward for getting clean. I reckon that’s why so many people kept throwing chances at him. I think in the end I went “Mmm”, thinking, If I just make a noise, that could be judged either way.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who like Russell brand and even if you don’t it still makes a good read, I ordered all his other books based on this one.
Memoirs Can Be Tough! In contrast, Brand’s book is a me-me-me ramble that starts with his admission to a sex-addiction recovery facility and then quickly jumps to his birth and on from there.
The woo business stuff was slightly more interesting, but even then I think anyone reading it needs to take it a with a pinch of salt.
I have recommended this book to all my colleagues as an excellent holiday read, as you need time to sit and enjoy as you will find it difficult to put down. He knows it’s incredible for him to have succeeded, and he also knows he can really credit that to OTHER people and his own dogged determination.
