The problem with wanting to be independent here is that, as a woman, baddik trou7i min beit ahlik la beit jawzik [“You have to go from your parents’ house to your husband’s house”]. The purpose of the book is to give voice to those in Lebanon with non-conforming sexualities and identities in order to give hope to this under-represented, often silenced population.
